Q: What is GoliathJobs.com?
A: GoliathJobs is a FREE web-based employment service for students & alumni of all ages and education levels. Industries include healthcare, education, small & large business, government, nonprofit, recruiting and more. Schools & associations can view/verify their students, alumni or members at no charge. This gives them an edge when applying for a job. Schools receive a free unlimited-user license to our verification system (patent pending). Schools include undergraduate, graduate, technical, trade, high schools, professional associations and more.


Q: How is the service free for all users including job seekers, schools, associations and employers?
A: GoliathJobs is free due to the quality and volume of our traffic. As a result, we offer optional fee-based services. These include focus groups, myDiscounts advertising, simple banner advertising, recruiting management services, public relation services and customized career service solutions, etc. Effective Fall 2008, employers will be charged a small fee for our service (max $39 per job).  Current employers will be grandfathered free through year-end.


Q: How is GoliathJobs different then other jobs boards (such as Monster, Career Builder, etc)?
A: We connect employers to active & passive job seekers via schools, alma maters, professional associations, social networks & other job boards. We offer employer verification, job seeker verification, myDiscounts from local & national merchants, spam-free email, recruiting management and a simple-safe-secure interface. These features are innovative, powerful and improve the user experience dramatically.

Another benefit we offer is our job feed system.  We have all the jobs on our site that you can find on many of the other job boards.  

GoliathJobsOver50, launching soon, is a dedicated employment portal for baby boomers & retirees! 


Q: What is the geographic area that GoliathJobs encompasses?
A: US & Canada. However, employers can post international jobs that US & Canadian job seekers can apply for (i.e. UBS has finance-related positions available in Hong Kong, Goldman Sachs has analyst positions available in London, etc). Also, job seekers with international education can also register on our site and include any academic details from schools outside of North America.  Our drop-down menus facilitate this for ease-of-use. 

GoliathJobs V2 will offer full international functionality for all users (job seekers, schools & employers).  


Q: Why is there a myMessages center instead of public email?
A: The myMessages center assures our users of privacy and a spam-free environment.


Q:I am not receiving any password reset codes, myMessage notifications or anything else in my public email. Please advise.
A:Your internet service provide (ISP), antivirus program and/or your email utility may have a spam-blocker feature that has blocked our messages.You should check your junk email folder and add us as a safe sender.


Q: I noticed a checkmark (
) in the myMessage center. What does it mean?
A: The green checkmark ( ) next to a name in your myMessage center is our verification symbol. It tells you that the sender and/or recipient has been verified.


Q: I noticed that you offer employer verification and job seeker verification. Please explain.
A: "Verification" is one of several powerful features that makes us unique. Employers are verified through a system pioneered by GoliathJobs. This gives job seekers peace of mind. Students & alumni are verified by their school, another GoliathJobs innovation. This gives them an edge when applying for a job, internship or career.


Q: What is GoliathJobsOver50?
A: GoliathJobsOver50 is a free web-based employment service for baby boomers & retirees. Industries include healthcare, education, small & large business, government, recruiting, nonprofit and most others. The site will be launched later this year. Interested users can register now at

Q: What is the GoliathJobs.com Foundation?
A: The GoliathJobs.com Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to education & employment. This nonprofit organization serves a variety of philanthropic purposes but our main goal is to help on and off-campus nonprofits raise money for their causes.


Q: I noticed that certain jobs resulting from a search are coming from other job boards, yet some are coming from GoliathJobs directly. Please explain.
A: Currently, we have over 6 million jobs available on our site. Some of those jobs come from employers that post directly with us. Others come from a "feed." Most job boards want exposure to our users. As a result, we provide them an incoming feed so we can provide you with even more jobs! Plus our users do not need to worry about missing out on anything!


Q: What is myDiscounts?
A: myDiscounts is a venue for local & national merchants to offer discounts and promotions on all types of products & services to our users.


Q: What is myResources?
A: myResources provides you with the latest industry trends and the most up-to-date news available to help make career decisions. We have created strategic relationships with partners, such as The Wall Street Journal, whose advice and information we trust. This news is updated daily.


Q: How do I get technical support?
A: Via the Contact Us link available at the bottom of every page.


Q: We are interested in your advertising & marketing services. How do we get more information and pricing?
A: Call (203) 989-0855 or click the CALL ME button twice. That button is available on our Advertising & Marketing Services page. You can also email us via this Contact Us link found at the bottom of every page.


Q: Is GoliathJobs case-sensitive?

Job Seekers

Q: Is GoliathJobs free for all job seekers including current students, recent graduates & alumni?
A: Yes, completely free. 


Q: Do I have to be a current student to use GoliathJobs.com?
A: No. You can be a student or alumnus from any undergraduate, graduate, technical, trade or high school in the US & Canada. You can also be a member of an association.


Q: Do I have to complete myProfile?
A: After you register, we recommend that you go back to the myProfile and complete the rest of the information.


Q: Can I tell my friends about GoliathJobs?
A: Yes, please do. We encourage all users to "tell a friend." There is a "tell a friend" link on the top right of every page.


Q: Is myProfile public or private?
A: Private. It is only available to the employers that you apply to and the career services office at your college or association (if they subscribe to our free Management Center). Please note that not all information on your myProfile is visible to them.


Q: Can I contact other Job Seekers through myMessages?
A: No. myMessages is an internal spam-free email system. You can only communicate with employers, career admin at your school and GoliathJobs. This is to protect your privacy and ensure all our users of a spam-free environment.


Q: How come certain jobs that result from a search navigate me away from GoliathJobs and into another job board?
A: Currently, we have over 6 million jobs available on our site. Some of those jobs come from employers that post directly with us. Others come from a "feed." Most job boards that exist (monster, career builder, etc) want exposure to our users. As a result, we provide them an incoming feed so we can provide you with even more jobs! Plus our users do not need to worry about missing out on anything when they switch to us!


Q: How can I get GoliathJobs to offer their services at my school or association?
A: Two ways, 1. You can contact your career development staff at and refer them to us. 2. You can contact us (via the Contact Us link at the bottom of every page) and give us the school or association name. If you know the name of an administrator in your career services dept that would be helpful.


Q: My friend is an intern for GoliathJobs at a different school. How can I apply for an internship position with GoliathJobs at my school?
A: You can email us via the Contact Us link found at the bottom of every page. Send us a message with your name and school name. Please mention that you are applying for a campus internship. We frequently post our internships on the site as well. Please search via "GoliathJobs Internships."


Q: Can my college or association send recommendations to employers through GoliathJobs.com?
A: Yes. If they know the Job ID #, they can contact the employer and send them a recommendation through myMessages.


Q: As a job seeker, what is the advantage of being verified?
A: This gives you an edge over other applicants when applying for a job, internship or career. Employers like to see that the school or association recognizes you as a student, alumnus or member.


Q: Who verifies me?
A: You are verified by an administrator at your school or association via the free verification system we provided them.


Q: Who do I contact if I am not verified?
A: You would contact the career services office at your school or association to let them know. If they have not signed up yet, they can sign up online at
http://www.goliathjobs.com/college. If they have signed up, then they just need to login, go to the myStudents page and select "unverified students." From there they can verify your record. Feel free to contact us via the link below if you would like us to contact the school on your behalf.


Q: What is the advantage of applying to a verified employer?
A: Peace of mind that you are applying for a job, internship or career offered by a legitimate employer. Our goal is to protect job seekers from spam, solicitations and fraud.


Q: I noticed that employers that come through the feed mentioned above are not verified.
A: That is correct. Only employers that post directly on our site are verified.


Q: I was provided a job ID# from an employer or someone I know. How do I find that job?
A: Simply input the job ID# in the job search box. (You can search by keyword or job #).


Q: Can I create multiple resumes?
A: Yes. Just click "create new resume" in the myResumes section. You can give each resume a unique name such as "marketing resume," or "finance resume." You can create an unlimited number of resumes. When you apply for a job, just click the resume you want from the drop down list that appears.


Q: When I create a resume, can I save my work and come back later and edit?
A: Yes. You can save, edit, finish later, etc.


Q: Can I upload a resume?
A: Yes.  In the myResumes section you will see the upload utility.  You can upload an unlimited number of resumes.  When you apply for a job, just click the resume you want from the drop-down list that appears.  


Q: How do I create a cover letter to send with my resume?
A: When you apply for a job, it will open a blank myMessage. You simply complete that message in the same format as a cover letter. When you send your resume, the message will go with it.


Schools & Associations

Q: Is GoliathJobs free for all schools & associations?
A: Yes.  Schools include undergraduate, graduate, technical, trade, high schools and more.


Q: Is GoliathJobs for all students, alumni or members?
A: Yes


Q: What if we already have a job/career system in place?
A: GoliathJobs compliments any system you may have in place.  A simple click of the mouse will give your students, alumni or members an edge when applying for a job, internship or career.   


Q: Is GoliathJobs for all majors and industries?

A: Yes including healthcare, education, business, arts & science, govt, nonprofit, technology, engineering, hospitality, sports, and all others.


Q: What is the myStudents Verification & Management System?
A: This is a simple, yet powerful utility that gives you several important features including:

-The option to verify students &, alumni. This option provides them with an edge over other applicants when applying for a job, internship or career. Employers like to see that the school or association recognizes and validates the candidate.
-The ability to view student, alumni or member profiles.
-An internal spam-free email system called "myMessages" for contacting students, alumni, employers and GoliathJobs.
-The ability to view employers and jobs that are available to your students, alumni or members.

As we grow, we will be adding more features such as reporting and customization tools.


Q: How does our school get a myStudents Verification & Management System and how much does it cost?
A: This utility is completely free for schools. It is web-based with simple and secure access. Just go to www/goliathjobs.com/college and then select "register now." Once registered, your account will be enabled by our staff. A
welcome email will be sent to you along with instructions on how to use the verification system.

Q: Does our administration manage the student verification?
A: Yes. You can assign a staff member, intern or whoever else you would like.


Q: How do we add additional users to the myStudents Verification & Management System?
A: Your organization gets an unlimited-user license to the system. Every administrator shares the user ID and password you create. You can change the password at anytime.


Q: How do we contact a job seeker with a question?
A: When you are viewing their profile within the myStudents section, you can select "send message."


Q: How do we verify our students or members that are looking for a job, internship or career?
A: Once registered, your account will be enabled by our staff. A welcome email will be sent to you along with instructions on how to use the verification system.


Q: Can we verify and unverify a job seeker?
A: Yes


Q:  How does our school manage alumni separately?  Our school has it's own alumni career services department.

A:  No problem.  Just let us know and we will setup a separate account.  i.e.  Fairfield University and Fairfield  University - Alumni.


Q: Does our administration have to manage the employer verification?
A: No. We have a dedicated staff and system in place for that.


Q: Our organization has openings for part-time and full-time staff as well as interns. Can we use GoliathJobs for that?
A: Yes. You would actually go to the employer page at
www.goliathjobs.com/employer. From there you would register and post all the jobs, internships and careers you may have.


Q: Our organization has a relationship with certain employers that recruit our students or members on an ongoing basis.  Can we maintain that
?
A: Yes.  When employers create a job, they will immediately receive a job #.  You can forward that job # to your students, alumni or members.  This is a great tool for employers that want to target job seekers from your organization. 


Employers

Q: Is GoliathJobs for all employers, recruiters, head hunters, staffing companies, etc?
A: Yes.


Q: What kinds of jobs can we post? Our needs include part-time, full-time, career, interns and volunteer.
A: All of them. Our job seekers include students, recent graduates, alumni, members, etc.


Q: Is GoliathJobs available to all employers regardless of industry?
A: Yes, as long as it is legal, safe and meets our standards. (We reserve the right to deny access to our site if we suspect any fraudulent activity).


Q: What is the advantage of hiring verified job seekers?
A: Peace of mind that applicants are recognized by their school or association. This helps to avoid receipt of inaccurate resumes and to reduce the amount of applicants you will need to review. We have found that it gives the job seeker an edge over other applicants when applying for a job, internship or career.


Q: What is employer verification?
A: Peace of mind for our job seekers that they are applying for a job, internship or career offered by a legitimate employer. Our goal is to protect job seekers from spam, solicitations and fraud.


Q: Will we still have access to the site prior to being verified?
A: Yes. You will still have an active account but the verified symbol will not appear until our system verifies your organization.


Q: Who do we contact if we are not verified?
A: If you are not verified within 24 hours of creating a profile, please contact us via the link below. The more information you complete in your profile, the quicker we can verify you.


Q: Can we give people the job ID# from our posting in order to drive them directly to our job?
A: Yes. The job seeker can input the job ID# in the job search box. (They can search by keyword or job ID#).


Q: We have a job opening at our branch in Hong Kong. Can we post that?
A: Yes. Our geographic area for job seekers is the US & Canada. However, employers can post international jobs that US & Canadian students can apply for (i.e. UBS has finance-related positions available in Hong Kong, Goldman Sachs has analyst positions available in London, etc).


Q: We are interested in purchasing a banner ad to highlight the jobs we posted and to also promote our company. Can we do that?
A: Yes.


Q: Our organization has a relationship with certain schools that we recruit from on an ongoing basis.  Can we maintain that?

A: Yes.  When employers create a job, they will immediately receive a job #.  You can forward that job # to schools, associations, students, alumni and anyone else you wish.  This is a great tool for employers that want to target students from particular schools.
 


Q: We are interested in posting jobs but do not want to review resumes, conduct interviews etc. Can GoliathJobs handle that for us?
A: Yes. Check out our "Recruiting Management" services below. We can handle all that for you and more.


Nonprofits

Q: Is GoliathJobs available to all nonprofits & charities?
A: Yes


Q: What kind of staffing would we use GoliathJobs for?
A: All types including full-time & part-time jobs, internships, careers and volunteer roles.


Q: How does a nonprofit signup for the service?
A: Nonprofits would register as an employer. Go to
www.goliathjobs.com/employer and then select the green "Register Now" box.


Q: What additional benefits do nonprofits receive?
A: Free banners ads, free myDiscounts ads and more. The horizontal 468x60 banner on every page is reserved for pre-approved nonprofits and charities. Your organization can use that to highlight jobs, events, fund raisers, etc. GoliathJobs is a great service for obtaining volunteers in addition to staffing jobs, internships and careers.

Q: Is GoliathJobs available to recruiters and job boards?
A: Yes. We encourage recruiters to use our site. Simply register as an employer.


Q: What if we do not want job seekers to contact the employer directly?
A: When inputting jobs, make yourself the contact.  We also suggest using your organization's name in lieu of the employer name.   


Q: What about our contract to provide recruiting services to our client?
A: That has not changed. You are under contract with your employer/client. GoliathJobs is another utility to find more candidates for your clients. It is a powerful, unique resource. 


Q: We have several hundred jobs and do not wish to manually input them.
A: That is fine. We have a job feed system in place to make that process easier. Send us a message via the Contact Us link below. At that point we can discuss incorporating a feed between your organization and ours.


Advertisers, Market Researchers, etc
